About Mahjong Solitaire
Mahjong Solitaire is a single-player tile-matching game built on the multi-layer "turtle" board of classic Mahjong. The full 144-tile set is stacked into a pyramid of tiles: dots, bamboo, and characters numbered 1 to 9, plus the four winds, three dragons, and the flower and season bonus tiles. Your goal is simple to learn but tricky to master, clear every tile from the board by removing matching pairs. This build draws every tile face with crisp SVG art (no images, no downloads) and guarantees that each fresh deal is solvable, so a perfect game is always possible if you read the board carefully. A built-in Shuffle reliably reshuffles into another solvable arrangement whenever you get stuck.
How to play Mahjong Solitaire
A tile is "free" (and playable) only when nothing is stacked on top of it and at least one of its left or right edges is open. Free tiles are outlined in green. Tap one free tile to select it, then tap a second free tile with a matching face to remove the pair. Numbered suits and honor tiles match exactly; any flower matches any other flower, and any season matches any other season. Keep clearing pairs to expose the tiles beneath. You win when all 144 tiles are gone. Use Hint to reveal a valid pair, Undo to take back a move, and Shuffle if no moves remain. Your fastest clear time is saved as your best.

Tips & tricks
- Always clear tiles that unblock the most others first, the four-sided capstone and the central stack open up the widest set of moves.
- Before matching a pair where you have a choice of which copies to remove, pick the copies that free up tiles still buried under the pile.
- When a tile type has all four copies free at once, it is usually safe to clear both pairs immediately, they will never trap you later.
- Use Hint sparingly to confirm a pair exists rather than to think for you, scanning the free tiles yourself builds the lookahead that lowers your time.
- If the Free Moves counter hits zero, hit Shuffle, it reshuffles the remaining tiles into a fresh solvable layout instead of ending your game.
